The
broader goals of AFRICAN CASTOR ACRES Foundation are to support the vitality
and sustainability of the region’s agriculture, to build a long-term economic
self-reliance and food security among participants and their communities, and
to expand access to high-quality, culturally appropriate foods in under-served
areas through production of locally-grown foods.
AFRICAN
CASTOR ACRES Foundation will provide diverse services for the youths such as
locating farmland, education, training, business development, production and
marketing assistance through strategic alliance with the big players in the
global market. The project provides opportunities for disadvantaged farmers,
preserves farmland and promotes agriculture.
This
project will be the first initiative in this direction nationwide to assist the
Nigerian youths and small –scale farmers to develop commercial farming
opportunities and interests in castor beans production and distribution in the
global market.
Our
work focuses primarily in Nigeria and especially the south eastern parts of the
country due to the suitability of the soil for the cultivation of the castor
beans and because of their population makeup, a strong interest in agriculture
amongst the people, and the support of community organizations.
